At the start of the year, Bing has released an IndexNow Plugin for WordPress to make it easier for WordPress users to use the protocol. It looks like the IndexNow protocol is getting more and more adopted as AIOSEO has now added support for IndexNow.

IndexNow is a protocol developed by Microsoft Bing and Yandex that allows sites to ping search engines whenever new content is published without the need to manually request for indexing.

Now that AIOSEO supports IndexNow, you do not need to install the separate IndexNow Plugin in order to take advantage of the protocol.

All you would need to do is to activate IndexNow in your AIOSEO account by heading over to the “Feature Manager” tab in your AIOSEO dashboard.

Once activated, you can click on the “Manage” link that will take you to the Webmaster Tools panel and in it, you can confirm if it is activated if the green tick on the top right-hand corner shows up for the IndexNow icon.

Once you have the protocol activated, it will alert search engines everytime you publish new content, update old content, and delete posts or pages.

As of now, IndexNow only works for Bing and Yandex, while Google is supposedly testing it out, as well.

With more and more plugins, tools, and programs adopting the protocol, we hope that Google would also support it. This should be able to greatly help SEOs and webmasters, given all the crawling and indexing issues being encountered as of late. For now, we can only wait and see.
