Google Faces A Second Turnover Fine In Russia For Illegal Content

According to Russia's state communications regulator, Google faces yet another fine on its revenue in Russia for allegedly failing to remove illegal content on multiple occasions.

The state communications regulator said on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 that Alphabet’s Google faces another fine on its turnover in Russia for an alleged repeated failure to delete prohibited content, including “misleading information” on YouTube about events in Ukraine.

In recent years, Russia has issued multiple fines to foreign technology companies for a variety of violations, in what critics say is Moscow’s attempt to exert greater control over the internet.

Google is yet to respond with regards to the issue.
