If you’re reading this, there’s a chance that you’re a business leader (even if you’re a one-person operation). You may think that this news item is just for those who are employees within a business. While the title of the article mentioned below may imply that, I’d propose that it can also apply to business owners.
On October 15th, 2021, an article by Ryan McGrath was published on Entrepreneur.com, titled 5 Ways to Become a Top Performer at Any Company.
The 5 ways to become a top performer are:
So, How Do These Apply to a Solopreneur?
Well, I hope that you grow your one-person business into a team. But, until then, you may need to collaborate with others, such as freelancers, designers, and service providers.
Heck, if you really think about this, you need all of these skills (and more) to be able to best serve your clients.
Let me give examples:
1. Natural Curiosity Helps Drive You to Understand What Customers Need
This one requires little explanation. Be curious about what others need. Be so curious that you can discover what they need even before they’re able to articulate it themselves.
Also, curiosity can help you to use an analytics tool like Google Analytics 4, because you may want to see how users interact with your site.
2. Having an Innate Ability (and Desire) to Learn Is Probably Something You Already Have
As a solopreneur, I’m sure you probably have this skill. If you don’t think you do, then you know what to do: develop it.
3. Ability to Turn Feedback Into Action…Into Results
Right action (hopefully) leads to the right outcome.
4. Both Autonomous and Collaborative
This one, for me, is a bit philosophical–a bit yin and yang. We’re single individuals operating within a collective whole.
5. Empower Others
Empower yourself. Empower your team to show how your products and services empower others.
So, those are how the 5 skills can be of benefit to you and your business.
There’s another article I came across, titled 12 Digital Marketing Skills You Need to Succeed, that might seemingly be even more applicable to you (since you’re likely a digital marketer). NOTE: That article doesn’t have the best grammar, and not all skills may apply to you, but it makes for a good list.
