Mozilla published Firefox 98.0.1, with only one mention in the release notes.
It stated that Firefox’s drop-down search menu, Yandex, and Mail.ru have been removed as optional search providers.
Mozilla explained that if the user previously installed a customized version of Firefox through a partner distribution channel, namely Yandex or Mail.ru, the update removes those customizations, including add-ons and default bookmarks, and the browser will restore to its default settings.
The said browser emphasized that the change does not affect any other Firefox releases, and the modifications will affect only any Firefox release tagged as a Yandex, Mail.ru, or OK.ru distribution.
