Google Assistant Snapshot, the spiritual successor to Google Now, appears to have vanished from Android smartphones after years of neglect.

In 2018, the Google app and the Discover feed on the leftmost part of Android home screens received a new feature called Google Assistant Snapshot. It was a mainly hidden and frequently overlooked feature of the Google app and the Discover feed on Android home screens’ leftmost part.

Users could integrate weather forecasts, calendar appointments, reminders, and other information in one place, similar to Google Now.

The snapshot was secretly revealed by Google earlier this year with a notification in its app saying it would be “going away,” but without a precise date. The message came a few weeks after many customers were unable to access the service due to a major problem.

Google Assistant Snapshot appears to have been sunset as of mid-April 2022. Apparently some users have been watching the feature’s demise since early this month when they noticed the Snapshot buttons in Discover and the Google app vanish, but those shortcuts appear to be gone for the vast majority of users gradually.
