In this attack, hackers are utilizing Google Docs to send malicious content.

google doc exploit allows phishing and malware spread

Google Docs has been plagued with security issues.

In June of 2021, an exploit in Google docs allowed easy delivery of malicious phishing websites to users.

Last October, hackers found a way to send links through comments in Google Slides and Google Docs.

In December, a wave of hacks exploited the comment productivity feature in Google Docs. This was mainly affecting users of Outlook.

The attack is hosted on a Google domain. This gives instant credibility. The victim is tagged using the @ and the user’s email address. An email is sent from Google and it looks like a business-related email.

The notification email contains the malicious link.

Unfortunately, it is bypassing security solutions since it is all coming through Google.

If any email comes in that is unexpected, naturally treat them all as a possible security threat. Read more on this exploit.
