Google’s Year in Search tells the story (or, at least one story) of 2021.

I can be a bit moving:

Of course, 2021 continued to be a very trying year for many, particularly those in the medical profession.

In the video, we  see “how to heal” in Spanish, Indonesian, and Russian.

We see a medical professional emotionally state that, “This year has been extremely challenging for me. I am broken. And I am healing.”

And then, we see the search query, “how to heal” being entered into Google.

Another query had to do with honoring someone, and we hear another voice: “ I’m here at the memorial wall. I wanted to do something to remember my mom.”

Yet another voice: “For some reason, I’m having anxiety. Obviously it’s normal with everything that’s going on right now.”

We then see Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka, and hear the words, “I think I’m going to take a break for a while.”

And then we see Isaac Frère speaking: “You can get through it. And if you can get through it, there’s a greater reward on the other side.”

2021 themes were:

  • Being happy to be back open
  • Getting the vaccine
  • Being your best
  • Stopping Asian hate
  • Climate injustice
