Several new features have been added to Google’s unified Trip site to assist in “plan your summer travel” spanning Flights, Hotels (including searching near specified sites), and the Explore functionality.
For starters, Google Flights already allows customers to “Track prices” for a certain period, but “Any dates” may also be toggled to receive an “email if [Google] detect[s] lower than typical rates in the following 3-6 months.”
In addition to public transportation, Hotels search has added: additional interest layers on the map, so you can quickly identify which locations have the greatest alternatives for dining, shopping, or sightseeing. These options display in the top-left corner of the map view. Google will use color to highlight the specified places.
Additionally, users may now put that location in the hotel or vacation rental search bar, and a toggle will appear to show places within a 15 or 30-minute walk or drive. This could be useful if users are attending a wedding or a conference and want to stay close to the venue.
Similarly, users are able to save hotels and vacation rental destinations as bookmarks for future reference. They just have to look for the Saved tab on mobile or the right-hand panel on a desktop to see their saved properties.
Finally, Google’s Travel site’s Explore function will allow you to “Explore nearby”: Select any destination to view useful information like typical hotel pricing or what kind of weather to expect, then tap this option to filter your search to areas you can drive there in a few hours.
