A breakthrough has occurred in Instagram’s continual effort to transcend itself. A capability that sounds a lot like the social network photo app BeReal is now being tested within the app and will periodically prompt users to shoot spontaneous photos.
Alessandro Paluzzi, a developer, and well-known leaker, first noticed Instagram’s newest function, dubbed IG Candid Challenges. Like BeReal, IG Candid will randomly choose a moment during the day to notify users, asking them to shoot a shot using both their front- and rear-facing cameras. The finished picture is then posted on their Instagram Story.
Paluzzi claims that Instagram users who take part in Candid Challenges will receive a reminder to take a picture of their surroundings at a different time each day. Users will have a two-minute window to take a photo after receiving the alert, and the Instagram camera will also open with both front and rear-facing shooters. There will be content offered through the challenges in the Stories tray.
However, the functionality is a prototype that Instagram is currently testing internally, a spokeswoman for the company told Engadget.
