In 2020, Facebook launched Subscriptions, which is a way for content creators to receive earnings from their subscribers. And now, it is currently being tested for rollout on Instagram and is called Instagram Subscriptions.

The company announcement stated:

“With Instagram Subscriptions, creators can develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers and grow their recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits, all within the same platform where they interact with them already.”

In this feature, Instagram users will be able to subscribe to creators and influencers to access exclusive content and features, such as exclusive Instagram Live and Instagram stories.

Subscribers will also get a purple badge by their username to signify their subscriber status.

The pricing for this new feature starts at $0.99 up to $99.99 per month, and the creators are the one who can choose the price point for subscriptions.

In a Facebook post, Mark Zuckerberg said:

“I’m excited to keep building tools for creators to make a living doing creative work and to put these tools in more creators’ hands soon,”

At the moment, it is being tested for a small number of creators, with more creators being added in the coming weeks.
