Google has added a section on page experience to their guidance on creating helpful content. Aside from that, they have also revised their help page about page experience. According to them, this is because helpful content provides a good page experience. With the added documentation, Google aims to help site owners consider page experience more holistically as part of the content creation process.

This is the particular section added in the guidance for creating helpful content:

Provide a great page experience
Google’s core ranking systems look to reward content that provides a good page experience. Site owners seeking to be successful with our systems should not focus on only one or two aspects of page experience. Instead, check if you’re providing an overall great page experience across many aspects.

The section also links to the updated help page on page experience, explaining the role of page experience in more detail, along with the self-assessment questions and resources.

It was also included in the announcement that with the addition of page experience to helpful content, the Page Experience Report in Search Console will now be removed. Read more about the removal in this article.
