Top Tech companies, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Apple, Bocoup, and Igalia, announced to join forces to promote interoperability.
The said project is part of the Interop 2022 that aimed at improving the experience of producing for the web important 15 areas and set to make things much easier for web developers.
Furthermore, the initiative started in 2019 when these firms set out to investigate developers’ problems with browser compatibility issues. Also, determine similarly how changes and new technologies may be applied.
As a result of the new benchmark, a shared dashboard will be established to track progress in the major areas that were agreed upon with the developers’ input. Cascade layers, CSS color functions, viewport units, and browser scrolling are just a few of the major topics. They’ll also focus on Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox, which are the four primary browsers involved.
Last year’s Compat 2021 initiative showed that there is still potential for improvement, so the fact that these large players can join together and collaborate on a solution is quite encouraging. Hopefully, this initiative will alleviate frustrations among site developers, as well as provide a better user experience.
