In the Google Search Central January 28 episode, a user asked how come his FAQs are not showing up as rich snippets in the search results despite the correct use of the FAQ schema. Could it not be showing up because of a trust issue on the content of the site?
John Mueller provided 3 insights as to why the FAQs might not show up despite the correct use of the markup.
Mueller responded that FAQ rich results are essentially similar to other types of rich results in that they have several levels that they take into account before they show them in the search results.
The first is that they need to be technically correct. You can determine any errors in how the markup was applied in Search Console.
Second is they need to be compliant with Google policies. There is no significant policies around FAQ rich results other than that, same as all other markups, the content should be visible on the page.
The third is they need to be able to understand that the website is trustworthy and that they can trust that the data provided on the site is correct. From a quality point of view, if they are not convinced about the trustworthiness and quality of the website, then they would not show the FAQs in the results.
According to Mueller, those are the three things to look into, if you do not see your FAQs in your search result listing – make sure it is technically correct, the page is compliant with Google policies, and if those technical aspects are correct, then think about what could be done to significantly improve the overall quality of your website, in order for Google to trust your site and the information it provides.
