Google discovered the “continue receiving messages from this sender” bug in Gmail on July 7, 2022.

Users are receiving redundant banner notifications on delivered emails in their inbox asking them if they want to continue getting emails from some senders.

“We are experiencing an issue with Gmail wherein emails delivered between 2022-07-06 20:36 PDT – 2022-07-07 00:08 PDT have a redundant banner notification in the users’ inbox,” Google said.

This message is shown at the top of emails as a gray banner with a hexagon-shaped exclamation point.

The ad displays far too frequently, even from well-known senders like Google Calendar event alerts, which is a problem for people who are affected.

The problem, however, is “limited to Gmail consumers and not to Enterprise customers who pay for Workspace.” We have yet to replicate the issue on several accounts we checked this morning, so it may not be widespread,” Google said.
