Yesterday, the YouTube channel, Google for Creators, published a news-related video. This video was hosted by Chanelle Garcia, who, according to her LinkedIn profile, is a Product Marketing Manager at Google.

Here’s a summary of the news:

  • Twitter announced a livestream shopping feature. My understanding is that, during one of your live streams, this is supposed to allow you to display a shopping option. This is a great way to promote your products during a live broadcast.

(Actually, this reminds me of an article I wrote back in July, titled, Is Livestream Shopping The Next Big Shopping Phenomenon?)

  • Twitter is also bringing its in-app tipping feature to Android.
  • Reddit is closing Dubsmash, but is integrating its features into the Reddit app.
  • Square introduces the Square Photo Studio app for online businesses. If you want to display an item, but without a background, you just have to take a picture of what you want to sell, and the app will automatically isolate it from its background.
  • In Triller news (not Twitter, but something called Triller), there’s a new funding program for Black creators.
  • Search Insights is the name of a feature YouTube is testing. It’s basically a keyword research tool that goes back 28 days.

For content producers, the relatively little-known Google channel, known as Google for Creators, is a good resource for tips and how-tos pertaining to content creation, productivity, and the life of a creative.

So, that’s your Google creator news for December 2, 2021.
