What Google giveth, Google can taketh away… unless you pay! Google will transition all remaining users to an upgraded Google Workspace paid subscription based on usage.

In 2020, G Suite became Google Workspace. Various plans were migrated over and Google is now getting rid of the G Suite legacy free edition.

People have until May 1 to select a new plan, or Google will do it for them “based on what [they] currently use with [their] G Suite legacy free edition.”

Google won’t start charging a subscription fee until July 1st. If no payment information is entered, Google will suspend the account for 60 days, after which users won’t be able to access Workspace’s “core services,” like Gmail, Calendar, and Meet.

You can find out more about how to upgrade to a paid plan or export your organization’s data on Google’s support page.
