Google competes with Amazon and Microsoft for its cloud computing product.
Google announced an agreement to buy cybersecurity firm Mandiant for $5.4 billion, one of the tech giant’s largest acquisitions, as it seeks to improve its cloud computing offering.
In a statement, Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said, “Organizations around the world are confronting unprecedented cybersecurity difficulties as the sophistication and intensity of attacks that were previously employed to target big governments are now being used to target firms in every industry.”
Google already has several services, including VirusTotal, which analyzes suspicious files for malware, and BeyondCorp Enterprise, which provides safe access.
