Search engine optimization technology leader, Moz launched its Competitive Research Suite with Keyword Gap. A new tool that displays the top keywords and pieces of content used by competitors The product is currently out of beta and works alongside the previously revealed True Competitor tool.

“Marketers often have tunnel vision when it comes to the competition, stuck in outdated offline battles over vanity,” said Dr. Pete Meyers, Marketing Scientist at Moz. “Even SEOs, who watch the changing search results every day, can be overwhelmed by data dumps of every company, product, and piece of content they’re competing against.” “Our Competitive Research Suite cuts through the clutter, uncovering your true online competitors, disclosing where they compete with you and arming you with the keywords and material you need to win.”

Keyword Gap will help customers increase their SERP visibility by displaying keywords that their domain is ranking for but could better, keywords that their competitors are ranking for but aren’t, and top pieces of content and keywords that are contributing to competitors’ good rankings. With the found keywords, a new statistic called Traffic Lift will be displayed, displaying the traffic users potentially receive if they overtake their competition for a certain term.

True Competitor, another tool in the Competitive Research Suite, can be used in conjunction with Keyword Gap. True Competitor can identify up to 25 competitors for a website, and those results (up to three competitor domains) can then be transferred into Keyword Gap, where the keyword analysis can commence.

Kathy Grunditz, Manager, Brand Strategy at One North, said, “Moz’s Competitive Research Suite was vital to our client’s search strategy; we located their competitors’ rival sites and compared terms to uncover chances for improvement.” “The Ranking Distribution graph in Keyword Gap is very beneficial because it’s a straightforward, visual approach to illustrate the need for a more robust keyword strategy.”

Moz Academy has announced a new Competitive Analysis Certification in addition to the new range of capabilities in Moz Pro. SEOs will learn how to create a complete competitive strategy with the six-part certification. Students will take a final exam and receive a certificate and LinkedIn badge after completing the on-demand coursework and exercises to ensure comprehension.

All Moz Pro clients may now access the Competitive Research Suite, and the certification can be purchased through Moz Academy.
