Google launches new features to Search, Nest, Travel, and more to help users shrink their carbon footprint.

There has been a lot of attention lately that corporations are shifting the climate crisis responsibility to consumers instead of focusing on their own carbon footprint.

During Wednesday’s announcement on how Google will help you reduce your carbon footprint. However, there was no mention of how they are further reducing theirs.

Since 2007, Google has been offsetting emissions but not fully eliminating them. The company says it is carbon neutral. Google pledged last year to run its offices and data centers entirely on locally-sourced carbon-free energy by 2030.

Google’s Chief Sustainability Officer Kate Brandt says Google’s data centers now run on 67 percent clean energy.

Google plans to switch up the way results for “climate change” appear in its Search platform. According to Google, users will be led to a dedicated results page with “high-quality climate-related information”.

Content will be sourced from reputable authorities, including the United Nations. This is designed to help consumers make more eco-friendly decisions.
