Instagram is expanding a feature that removes’sensitive’ content, potentially limiting the reach of some accounts.
Users can control how much and how little sensitive content they see across Search, Reels, Accounts You Might Follow, Hashtag Pages, and In-Feed Recommendations by going to the Settings menu and selecting Sensitive Content Control.
Sensitive Content Control was first implemented in July 2021, but it was only available in the Explore feed.
If a user publishes content that Instagram considers sensitive,’ your posts’ reach may be reduced if a large number of people use Sensitive Content Control.
Instagram defines sensitive content as “posts that don’t necessarily break our rules, but could potentially be upsetting to some people.”
This specifically includes content that depicts violence, including fighting, sexually explicit or suggestive content, such as images of people wearing see-through clothing, content that encourages the use of regulated products such as tobacco or vaping, adult products and services, or pharmaceutical drugs, content promoting or depicting cosmetic procedures, and content that may attempt to sell products or services based on health-related claims, such as
