Squarespace is a website builder and hosting company where you can build your own website using prebuilt templates, and drag and drop elements. The platform makes it easy to build websites to develop an online presence or sell products.

And now, looks like Squarespace is further taking advantage of the rise in content creation, subscriptions, and monetization, with its release of video subscriptions and monetization.

Squarespace is now supporting video hosting directly from the Squarespace platform and enabling users to sell access to digital products and content at a one-time charge or through a recurring subscription.

According to their release:

It’s now more important than ever for creators and entrepreneurs to diversify their revenue streams. Squarespace is releasing new tools to help our customers meet this moment, and earn income through selling digital products and content.

We launched Member Areas in 2020 to provide creators with a new way to sell content through memberships. Since then, we’ve seen an increase in video content being utilized, and to help customers better leverage this medium, our latest releases offer a seamless way to monetize video content such as classes.

Creators can upload up to 30 minutes of video content for free. For additional hours of content, signing up to Member Areas is needed. The Member Areas is an add-on product to a Squarespace website subscription. Plans start at $9 monthly.

Looks like more and more platforms are coming up with programs and tools to provide content creators with more earning capabilities, and to keep them in their platforms. We wonder who is next.
