TikTok is introducing a new tool that allows users to give credit to video creators and trend starters.
It will encourage people to credit their sources of inspiration by allowing users to tag, mention, and credit videos in postings.
Users will be able to tag videos they have liked, favorited, posted, or that employ the same sounds on the video page.
When TikTok viewers wish to credit another video, they may only do it in captions or comments at the moment. They will be able to credit certain videos with the new capability.
In a blog post, Kudzi Chikumbu, TikTok’s Director of Creator Community, said:
“These features are an important step in our ongoing commitment to investing in resources and product experiences that support a culture of credit, which is central to ensuring TikTok remains a home for creative expression,”
After posting or editing a video, users will be able to access the functionality from the video page.
TikTok will also incorporate user reminders such as pop-ups highlighting the necessity of thanking original creators and urging users to do so.
